Rediscovering everyday life as an urban phenomenon: Methodological overview of the representation and experiences beyond the city’s physical urban fabric, case study on Skopje in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

The project will act as a platform combining urban study, research and practices under the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in the “Architecture and Sciences of the City” PhD program, through the Arts of sciences laboratory (LAPIS). The project tends to stimulate discussions among the interdisciplinary arena for exploring urbanity through the matrix of the imaginary resources and of the cultural production of the city.

The project aims to provoke dialogue for development of the city of Skopje through exploring various socio-cultural patterns of urbanity and anthropological phenomena’s beyond the city’s physical structures. The city of Skopje will act as an exemplary case study for re-reading the complexity of everyday life, shaping the cities and societies nowadays.

With the support of FONDATION USM, the action will be structured as follows; firstly, it will aim to open discussions among the Swiss academic arena, with possibility to inspire future research in the field; secondly, to anticipate Swiss-Balkan collaboration aligned with the focus in the research; thirdly, to enrich the program at EPFL with new sets of lectures, exhibitions, and publications on the related issues.
